Cool. She appears not to be around anymore. Good food at that restaurant.
They usually open only around after 1600.
Not us to ask
Lousy food, and extremely bad service is how would summarize my visit to the restaurant. I was there with my family and the family of a close friend. The service was slow and unresponsive. When I checked, they are busy. What do you expect on a Saturday evening? They did not have the right amount of staff. The food was mediocre in taste. The final dessert was a real climb down. The item tasted of stale oil. Sad we wasted an otherwise wonderful evening
Great authentic Mediterranean food with fresh and original flavors. The service is wonderful. They are also great with large parties and special occasions.
Wonderful and fresh vegetarian options. Beautiful atmosphere and great service.
I went for lunch with a group of five. I called ahead and they said it was no problem to accommodate us. They gave us a free hummus which was a wonderful touch! They don’t have a lunch menu or a lunch crowd but the staff working was attentive and quick. The food was excellent and had a wonderfully authentic vibe. I didn’t give it five stars because not having a lunch menu was a little disappointing we had to pay dinner prices and received dinner portions.
Fantastic food! You can taste the freshness and authenticity. Everything is prepared upon ordering. There are ample vegetarian options. The halloumi is worth trying and the falafels are crispy with a perfectly moist filling! The cocktails are fantastic and the service is extremely friendly. Almost everything we ordered was delicious and I look forward to frequenting their establishment!
The outside does look like much but once inside it is a whole different place. Great server. Great authentic food. Most recommended
Food was good at Mama Ayesha's. We ordered the baba ghanoush, lamb shank, and salad with chicken tawook. The lamb was very well cooked; super tender with meat that fell off the bone. However, I think it was underseasoned and was missing flavors. Unfortunately, it tasted a bit bland. Great texture though. The chicken tawook salad was great. Very fresh flavors and they didn't skimp on the chicken kabob pieces. All in all, I feel that the high prices are not worth it, and thus probably won't be returning.
Quaint neighborhood restaurant with cultured food, family oriented staff and comfortable ambiance. It's great for a large group or date night with my fiancee.
Very good middle-easter cuisine in a comfortable and friendly space
Long time favorite of mine. Great food, nice wine selections. They've re-opened their patio and it's very roomy, good for social distancing. The kifta and mixed grill are two of my go-tos. Their rice is super delicious. If Alex is around, he's an awesome waiter!
Fantastic service from all! The food was divine and portions are perfect! Family owned and operated and Mama Ayesha should be proud!
Very nice and friendly family atmosphere. The food is delicious at this iconic restaurant. Recommended bigly.
One of the better middle eastern places in DC proper. Nice that you can make reservations online, and a relatively quiet place. Also has a parking lot, which can be helpful for those from out of town. Plates aren't super big and are a bit on the expensive side. Alcohol selection is really good for a restaurant of this size.
Lamb was good chicken was a little dry but the real issue was the service no one acknowledged us to sit us I had to find someone and our server came to our table to take our order and drop off our food but NEVER checked on our table so I had to find her to order drinks find her for napkins find her for dessert then find her for the bill I was there for a birthday I was si dissatisfied with the level of service I'm still attempting to process my experience tbh
Good food, atmosphere nice, well decorated, good service, would come back again, music low background from region helps set atmosphere while not interfering with conversation
In a slightly open and quieter neighborhood. Not that a big crowd, so easily got a table. Service was quick and efficient. The food was OK, maybe need to develop a better taste, but have had better.
Delicious and clean food. The amount is kinda little to the price even for someone like me who eats like birds.
Great food, portions can be a bit better
Great food great atmosphere. The service is really good and the food is amazing.
The food was delicious, the service was wonderful, the atmosphere was awesome. The only negative points I would say, hard to find parking spot, also the place need minor renovation.
Great food, well priced, friendly staff
We have been going there for over 40 years and have always been afforded terrific hospitality, excellent food, great value and a very relaxing atmosphere. And we shall keep returning.
Taste: it was goodPortions: Really small with no side dishes or even breadHospitality: Not friendly at all (it was disappointing)
We loved it. I was in the mood for middle eastern food and this was great. Amazing food, alot of varieties, great environment and very friendly service. Highly recommended.
A little on the expensive side. The portions are as well small. The food was good but not amazing. Done it once is more than enough.
Mama Ayesha’s is a DC staple, anyone coming from Woodly Park metro to Adams Morgan will recognize it. We arrived with a party of 8 for a going away event and were seated promptly. The small plates were tasty. They were inconsistently sized, so some were able to serve all of us but some only served one. The drinks were nice, I had an old fashioned that was decent but nothing to write home about. The mains were sufficiently large for one. The desserts were portioned inconsistently as well, some quite big but others merely a bites-worth. Overall it’s good and the atmosphere makes it worth the trip more than the food.
The food and service were good, which made for an enjoyable dinner for the four of us. The atmosphere and design elements in the restaurant are interesting as is the founding story and mural outside. I thought the price was a little on the high side for the dishes, which brought the rating down to four stars for me.
Sunday brunchDelicious, reasonably priced food with great service
One of my two favorite Mediterranean food places in D.C. The service here is very attentive and quick and the food is amazing. Nice dim and calm evening atmosphere. I love the Lamb Shank or Salmon Meshwi with lamb stuffed grape leaves and a hummus or falafel plate. Everything here is good so really no bad choices. Whether you're a meat eater or seafood or vegan you'll still find some good options here.
The one star is for the food. The service was amazing, and the staff were very friendly. It is such a shame that the only issue was the food quality, terrible.
great food good service and very accomodating atmosphere
Delicious food and a quiet place but very slow service
I had their famous lamb shank and it was decent not as flavourful as I hoped. The yellow rice was bland with zero taste. Nothing mind blowing, decent food steep prices.
Food was delicious! I had the lamb loin chops with Vermicelli rice instead of the mashed potatoes. Cooked wonderfully with lots of flavor. Also had the spicy beef sausage as an appetizer. Would probably skip that need time. Pretty empty on a Friday afternoon. Quick service.
Amazing staff. Very polite. Food is out of this world!.Very ambient. Will definitely come back. The decoration inside the restaurant is beautiful as well
